Flamenco Concert
Singer: Alba Guerrero
Guitar: Paco Garfia
"Hospedería Fonseca" Auditorium , Salamanca
June 3, 2011. 8:00 pm
Alba Guerrero premieres 7 days, a flamenco show drawing inspiration from the days
of the week. The etymology of these names brings Astrology and Mythology into play.
With this serving as its main theme, the show comes together with each day being
associated to a singing style, cante and subgenre, palo.
Monday, the day of the moon corresponds to the song Corre caballito sung in
abandolaos. Tuesday (Martes in Spanish, from Marte god of War) will
feature Irak sung in soleá. Wednesday (Miércoles, Mercury
or Hermes the messenger of the gods) features La pierecita in tangos.
Thursday (Jueves, Jupiter or Zeus father of the gods) we shall devote to Fandangos
de Huelva as it is the land of my forefathers. Friday (Viernes from Venus)
I shall sing to love in milonga. Saturday, the day of Saturn or Chronos, god
of time, we shall play in seguiriyas, probing into the relation between the
twelve beats and five pulses which define this subgenre. Finally Sunday, the day
of the Sun, we shall all sing in cantiñas and bulerías
to celebrate.
